Turkish Airlines to raise Istanbul-Lagos flights from 7 to 10 weekly

By —

Turkish Airlines will increase its weekly flights between Istanbul and Lagos from seven to 10, effective 11 December. The carrier said the extra frequencies are meant to meet rising demand for travel between Nigeria and Türkiye.

The airline disclosed the plan in a statement made available to correspondents on Monday. It said the expansion will give passengers more travel options and greater flexibility when planning international trips, especially those connecting through Istanbul to destinations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.

Bigger capacity on a key Nigerian route

Turkish Airlines said the additional services will strengthen its Nigerian operations and improve access to a network of more than 350 destinations, supported by a fleet of over 560 aircraft.

The airline said the extra frequencies were designed to support both business and leisure travel, giving passengers improved access to its international network through Istanbul. It also said the increase highlights the importance of Nigeria to its African network, with the additional flights expected to provide greater capacity on one of its key Nigerian routes.

The Lagos increase follows the rise in its Istanbul-Abuja services to seven weekly flights from June 2026, which the airline said will further strengthen air connectivity between Nigeria and Türkiye.

Lounge access for premium passengers

Beyond flight availability, Turkish Airlines said its premium passengers will continue to enjoy additional services at its Istanbul hub.

“For Business Class passengers connecting through Istanbul, the journey is further complemented by access to the award-winning Turkish Airlines Business Lounge at Istanbul Airport,” the airline stated.

The lounge provides a premium transit experience for eligible passengers, complementing the carrier's wider focus on international connectivity and passenger comfort.

What it means for Nigerian travellers

The move comes as airlines continue to adjust capacity and schedules in response to passenger demand, strengthen connecting traffic and improve access to international markets. Starting on 11 December 2026, the additional flights are expected to give Nigerian travellers greater flexibility and convenience while strengthening connections between Lagos, Türkiye and destinations across Turkish Airlines' global network.
