Africa's luxury hospitality sector continues to push record nightly rates, with top properties in Botswana, South Africa and Morocco charging between $593 and $9,711 per night. Industry data shows high-end hospitality still outperforms the wider hotel market, helped by affluent travellers who want bespoke experiences and privacy.

10. DumaTau Camp, Botswana

DumaTau Camp sits in Botswana's Linyanti Wildlife Reserve and is operated by Wilderness, a conservation-focused hospitality company. Rates run from $1,810 to $4,330 per person, per night. The camp has eight tented suites on wooden walkways, each with a private plunge pool and outdoor viewing deck. The nightly rate covers meals, premium drinks, game drives, guided walks and boat excursions.

9. The Oyster Box, South Africa

The Oyster Box overlooks the Indian Ocean and the Umhlanga Lighthouse in KwaZulu-Natal. It opened in 1947 and belongs to The Red Carnation Hotel Collection. Classic rooms start at $593 per night. The Superior Garden Villa costs from $1,746, while the Presidential Suite goes for $9,093 per night. A full buffet breakfast is included, and guests can use the spa, restaurants and direct beachfront promenade access.

8. The Silo Hotel, South Africa

The Silo Hotel sits above Cape Town's V&A Waterfront in a converted grain elevator that now houses the Zeitz MOCAA art museum. It opened in 2017 and is part of The Royal Portfolio, the group founded by Liz Biden. The hotel has 28 rooms and suites with oversized geometric windows. Rates start at ZAR 37,500 (about $2,342) per night for the Duplex Suite. The Royal Suite begins at ZAR 95,500 (about $5,965), and the Penthouse goes for ZAR 150,000 (approximately $9,369). Rates are bed and breakfast, with a separate conservation levy.

7. La Mamounia, Morocco

La Mamounia sits on eight hectares of gardens at the edge of Marrakech's medina. Opened in 1923, it has drawn heads of state and celebrities. Room rates range from $598 to $9,711 per night. The palace hotel remains one of Africa's most celebrated luxury properties.

For Nigerian businesses and investors, the trend underlines the staying power of premium travel spending even in a tough global economy. High-end hotels are holding their pricing power because wealthy guests continue to prioritise exclusive, experience-led stays.
