SpaceX briefly overtook both Amazon and Microsoft on Tuesday, pushing its market value close to $3 trillion. The rocket maker closed at $201.68 per share, giving it a valuation of roughly $2.64 trillion.

According to data from AlphaSpace, SpaceX now trails only Nvidia, Alphabet, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon among US public companies. The milestone came just days after its public debut.

From its opening trade price of $150, SpaceX gained about 50% at Tuesday's high. That added nearly $1 trillion in market value. Measured from its $135 IPO price, the stock had surged 67% by early Tuesday morning.

At its peak, SpaceX cleared Amazon's $2.65 trillion valuation and edged past Microsoft's $2.93 trillion. It briefly sat inside the top four most valuable US companies.

The rally followed a historic Monday. SpaceX's public listing was the largest IPO ever. Elon Musk became the world's first trillionaire as the stock jumped nearly 20% on day one.
