Onne Customs Command hits N77.3 billion revenue in April 2026

By

The Onne Area II Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has declared a revenue of N77.3 billion for April 2026. This is the highest monthly collection since the command was established.

Comptroller Aliyu Mohammed Alkali, the Customs Area Controller at Onne Area II Command in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, announced the figure while reviewing his achievements. He said the result shows the command's dedication to revenue generation, trade facilitation, and enforcing government fiscal policies.

From January to April 2026, the command generated a total of N258.2 billion. Alkali described this as an unprecedented revenue collection in the command's history.

Anti-smuggling operations

Alkali also highlighted major anti-smuggling successes. In February 2026, officers intercepted a 40-foot container declared as plumbing materials. The Duty Paid Value (DPV) was N185.2 million. Investigation revealed that smugglers had replaced the original container number with a fake one to remove it from the port without paying duty.

That same month, the command intercepted nine 40-foot containers carrying bales of fabrics, building and carpentry tools, cartons of LED lights, solar fans, and garments. The DPV of these items was N1.2 billion.

Alkali stated that the importers violated Sections 231, 233, and 246 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023. The offences include alteration of marks and numbers, document falsification, and attempted smuggling.
