Naira Gains N7.56 at Official Market, Holds Steady at Black Market

The naira appreciated against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Monday, starting the week on a positive note.

Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed the naira closed at N1,356.27 per dollar on Monday. That was up from N1,363.83 traded on Friday. The local currency gained N7.56 against the dollar at the official market.

At the black market, the naira remained flat at N1,395 per dollar. That was the same rate as the previous week.

The development comes as Nigeria’s foreign reserves rose to $50.51 billion as of June 11, 2026.

Recall that the naira had depreciated against the dollar at the official market on Thursday and Friday, ending last week on a negative note.
