Naira Gains N1 Against Dollar at Official Window, Black Market Stable

The Nigerian naira appreciated by at least N1 against the United States dollar at the Central Bank of Nigeria official foreign exchange window on Thursday, 21st May 2026. Data from the CBN platform shows the naira traded at a Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market rate of N1,372.3079 per dollar and closed at N1,372.7500 per dollar.

On Wednesday, 20th May 2026, the naira traded at N1,373.3431 per dollar. The difference means the local currency gained roughly N1 in one day.

At the parallel market, the naira-to-dollar buying rate increased by N2, while the selling rate held steady. According to AbokiFX, the black market rates on Thursday stood at N1,392 for buying and N1,397 per dollar for selling.
