By

The naira appreciated slightly against the United States dollar at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) official foreign exchange window on Thursday, September 10, 2026. It traded at N1,328.2154 per dollar at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) and closed at N1,328.0000 per dollar.

This was a marginal gain from Wednesday, September 9, 2026, when the currency traded at an NFEM rate of N1,329.2129. The movement represented an appreciation of at least N0.99 after Thursday's trading activities.

Official Market Close

Data on the CBN's official platform showed the naira traded at N1,328.2154 to the dollar at the NFEM window. The closing rate was N1,328.0000 per dollar. The official market ended the day stronger than the previous session.

Parallel Market Rates

At the parallel market, the buying rate increased by N10 while the selling rate increased by N5 when compared with the previous trading rate on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The naira to dollar exchange rate at the black market on Thursday, September 10, 2026, was N1,380 and N1,390 per dollar for buying and selling rates, respectively.

What It Means

The gap between the official NFEM rate and the parallel market rate remains wide. For businesses and consumers who source dollars from the black market, the buying and selling rates of N1,380 and N1,390 still reflect a significant premium over the official window's N1,328.2154 and N1,328.0000 levels.
