Naira firms at official and black market, CBN data shows

The naira extended its appreciation against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Tuesday. Central Bank of Nigeria data showed the currency firmed to N1,320.25 per dollar, from N1,320.56 on Monday.

That represents a day-to-day gain of N0.31 at the official market. At the black market, the naira also strengthened, trading at N1,390 per dollar compared with N1,400 the previous day, a rise of N90.

Official market

CBN data on Tuesday put the naira at N1,320.25 against the dollar, slightly firmer than the N1,320.56 recorded on Monday.

Black market

Parallel market traders quoted the naira at N1,390 per dollar on Tuesday, up from N1,400 traded the previous day.
