Naira slides at official window, gains slightly on black market

The Nigerian naira depreciated against the United States dollar at the Central Bank of Nigeria official foreign exchange window on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Data from the CBN platform shows the naira traded at N1,363.3040 per dollar at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market rate. It closed at N1,365.5000 per dollar.

This marks a drop of at least N3.23 compared to Wednesday, June 17, when the NFEM rate was N1,360.0725.

At the parallel market, the naira performed slightly better. The buying rate appreciated by N5, while the selling rate went up by N2 compared to the previous trading day.

Black market rates stood between N1,400 and N1,407 for buying and selling.
