Naira slips to N1,331.6875/$ at official window, black market at N1,365

By —

The naira depreciated against the United States dollar on Monday, October 5th, 2026, trading at N1,331.6875 at the Central Bank of Nigeria official foreign exchange window. The parallel market quoted N1,355 and N1,365 per dollar for buying and selling respectively, according to AbokiFX.

Official market

Data on the CBN official platform showed the naira traded at a Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market rate of N1,331.6875 per dollar. It closed at N1,332.9000 per dollar. The currency had traded at an NFEM rate of N1,330.0965 on October 2nd, 2026. That means it depreciated by at least N1.59 after Monday's trading activities.

Parallel market

At the black market, both the buying and selling rates decreased by N10 compared with the previous trading rate on Friday, October 2nd, 2026. AbokiFX data put the naira to dollar exchange rate at N1,355 and N1,365 per dollar for buying and selling rates respectively on Monday, October 5th, 2026.

Pressure persists

The official and parallel market quotes still leave a gap. The official closing rate of N1,332.9000 per dollar compares with the parallel market selling rate of N1,365 per dollar. For businesses and consumers, the spread keeps dollar sourcing costs higher on the street than at the official window. The official market depreciation also points to continued pressure on the naira, even as parallel market rates eased by N10 from Friday's levels.
