Naira depreciates against dollar at official FX market

The naira depreciated against the US dollar at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) official foreign exchange window on Monday, August 24, 2026, trading at N1,346.9760 per dollar.
Data from the CBN official platform showed the naira traded at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) rate of N1,346.9760 per dollar and closed at N1,349.9900 per dollar.
Monday's trading
The currency had traded at an NFEM rate of N1,346.4913 on Friday, August 21, 2026. Monday's trading activities resulted in a depreciation of at least N0.48.
Parallel market
At the parallel market, the buying rate remained the same, while the selling rate decreased by N2 compared to the previous trading rate on Friday, August 21, 2026.
The marginal loss at the official window leaves the naira slightly weaker for businesses and consumers sourcing dollars through the official market.
