By Aboki Forex —
The naira appreciated against the United States dollar at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) official foreign exchange window on Thursday, October 29, 2026, trading at N1,346.9108 per dollar. The currency closed the session at N1,346.0000 per dollar.
Data published on the CBN's official platform showed the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) rate at N1,346.9108, compared with N1,347.5259 on October 28, 2026.
Official window gain
The movement means the naira appreciated by at least N0.62 following Thursday's trading activities, based on the NFEM rates for the two days.
The official window rate is the reference point used for a wide range of transactions, including government payments and imports settled through the banking system.
Black market rates ease
At the parallel market, the buying rate fell by N3 and the selling rate dropped by N4 when compared with the previous trading rate on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
AbokiFX quoted the naira-to-dollar exchange rate at the black market on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at N1,385 and N1,395 per dollar for buying and selling rates respectively.
That leaves a gap of roughly N39 between the official closing rate of N1,346.0000 and the parallel market buying rate of N1,385.
What it means
The naira gained slightly at both windows on the day, with the parallel market recording a small easing in both buying and selling quotes. Importers and businesses that source dollars from the official window will see a marginal difference in cost, while the gap between official and street rates remains wide enough to keep pressure on pricing decisions.
