Naira Gains at Official FX Market as Parallel Market Eases to N1,380/$1
By Aboki Forex —
The naira appreciated against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market, according to the latest trading update. At the parallel market, rates also eased, with both the buying and selling sides dropping compared with the previous session.
Parallel market rates
Black market buying rate: N1,380 to the dollar.
Selling rate: N1,386 to the dollar.
The buying rate decreased by N5 and the selling rate decreased by N4 when compared with the previous trading rate on Friday, September 18, 2026.
That leaves a spread of N6 between what dealers pay for the dollar and what they sell it for.
Official market
The naira appreciated against the dollar at the official FX market in the same trading period, a move that points to firmer demand for the local currency on the official window.
The parallel market easing, with buying and selling rates both down, suggests dealers were quoting lower prices for the dollar than in the previous session.
Naira traders and businesses that source FX will watch whether the official market gains hold, and whether the parallel market continues to track in the same direction in the coming sessions.
