My track record is my assurance for 2027 Senate victory, says Adamawa PDP stalwart Atta

Mohammed Ibrahim Atta, a former chairman of Yola North Local Government in Adamawa State, has declared his intention to run for Adamawa Central Senatorial District in the 2027 National Assembly election. He said his track record as a four-time local government chairman and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) guarantees victory.
Atta spoke in an interview with journalists, saying the zone has lacked quality representation since the return of democracy in 1999.
Why he wants to run
Atta said he is offering himself for effective representation and people-oriented service. He argued that his experience as local government chairman and grassroots service put him in good stead to represent the district at the Senate.
He also criticised the current 10th National Assembly, calling it undemocratic and a rubber stamp. He said the legislature has turned into a propaganda cycle and changed the people-oriented agenda.
“I am not impressed with what is happening at the 10th National Assembly as it is undemocratic because they have turned the place into a propaganda cycle and also as a rubber stamp assembly,” he said.
Confidence in PDP
Atta said the PDP remains the party with the people’s confidence in Adamawa State, despite distractions. He noted that almost everybody in the state still backs the party, from governorship candidate to House of Assembly contenders.
He said he was a founding member of the PDP in 1998 and has stayed with the party since then. He also noted that all local government chairmen in the state are controlled by the PDP.
Dismissing candidates from the APC, NDC and ADC, Atta said none of them is his equal. He described them as second class politicians who lack grassroots support and political experience.
“They only have money but no grassroots support like me. They lack the political experience and competency which is my strongest weapon in the election,” he said.
Problems facing Adamawa Central
Atta identified hunger, insecurity, poor healthcare and infrastructural decay as major challenges in his senatorial district. He promised to work on education, security, healthcare and agriculture if elected.
He said PDP governorship candidate Maurice Vanoboiki is loved by the people and will win. He predicted the PDP will take over Adamawa State by May 29 next year.
On the election date, Atta said the people will vote for him on January 16, 2027. “My track record is the assurance of my victory in 2027,” he said.
