Kenya's Inflation Rises to 6.8% in September
By Aboki Forex —
Kenya's inflation rose to 6.8% year-on-year in September, up from 6.6% a month earlier, the country's statistics office said on Wednesday.
The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics said the monthly inflation rate for September stood at 0.4%, the same rate recorded in August.
What the Numbers Show
The September reading marks a slight acceleration from the 6.6% year-on-year rate posted in August. On a month-on-month basis, prices moved at the same pace as the previous month.
The data was released from Nairobi on Wednesday, September 30.
Why It Matters
Inflation readings shape how Kenya's central bank approaches interest rates and how households and businesses plan their spending. A steady monthly rate suggests price pressures did not build up further between August and September, even as the annual rate edged higher.
