Nigeria-China logistics deal: Zero-tariff policy is a big chance for exports, says Obayendo

By

The Federal Government is strengthening its logistics partnership with China to boost trade and investment, and Obayendo has pointed to China's zero-tariff policy for African exports as a key opening for Nigeria.

Obayendo said the policy gives Nigeria a significant opportunity to expand exports, strengthen manufacturing, attract new investments and deepen participation in global value chains.

Policy dialogue into economic gains

Obayendo described the engagement as a practical demonstration of how international collaboration can convert policy dialogue into tangible economic outcomes.

The logistics partnership is expected to support the flow of goods between Nigeria and China, making it easier for Nigerian producers to reach the Chinese market under the zero-tariff arrangement.

What it means for Nigerian businesses

For Nigerian exporters, the zero-tariff window removes a major cost barrier. But taking advantage of it depends on efficient logistics, which the renewed partnership aims to deliver.

The focus now shifts to how quickly Nigeria can scale up export capacity and use the tariff-free access to grow non-oil trade with China.
