FG announces passport intervention for Nigerians in four UK cities

The Federal Government on Monday announced dates and venues for a passport intervention exercise for Nigerians living in the United Kingdom. The exercise will take place in London, Manchester, Aberdeen and Cardiff.
The exercise is being conducted by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). It follows the deployment of a Passport Intervention Team from NIS headquarters in Abuja.
Directive from Minister of Interior
The NIS said the exercise followed a directive by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. It also came after consultations with the Nigerian High Commission and representatives of Nigerian communities in the UK.
The announcement gives no specific dates for each city. But officials confirmed the exercise is part of efforts to bring passport services closer to Nigerians abroad.
What this means for Nigerians in the UK
The intervention is aimed at reducing the stress of passport renewal and related services for Nigerians in the diaspora. Those in Aberdeen and Cardiff, in particular, often travel long distances to access Nigerian consular services.
