The number of ultra-rich people in Europe is rising fast. Over the past five years, the count of individuals with at least $30 million in wealth jumped by 26 percent. That is according to Knight Frank’s Wealth Report 2026.
Europe now has 183,953 ultra-high-net-worth individuals, up from 146,525 in 2021. That means 37,428 new members joined the club over five years. On average, 20.5 people cross the $30 million threshold every day across the continent.
Germany leads the daily increase. The country adds five new ultra-rich people each day on average. Its total rose from 28,942 in 2021 to 38,215 in 2026, a gain of 9,273. Germany is Europe’s largest economy and ranks third globally by GDP.
Switzerland follows with 2.7 new ultra-rich individuals per day. Its total grew by 4,968 to reach 17,692.
France adds 2.1 people daily. The country’s ultra-rich population increased by 3,781 to 21,518.
Other major economies are close behind. The UK and Italy each add 1.6 new members daily. Spain adds 1.5, and Turkey adds 1.1.
Among the seven countries with at least one new ultra-rich person per day, five are among Europe’s largest economies. Switzerland and Turkey are the exceptions.
Poland adds 0.9 daily. Czechia and Austria each add 0.5. Denmark and Portugal add 0.4. The Netherlands, Ireland and Sweden each add 0.3.
For context, the European Central Bank’s 2023 report showed wide wealth gaps. The median net wealth in the euro area was €123,500. But the bottom 20 percent had only €2,000, while the top 20 percent had €1.01 million.
