Asian Markets Jump as Iran War Ends, Oil Prices Drop

By

Share prices surged across Asia on Monday after a peace deal ended the Iran war and reopened the Strait of Hormuz. Tokyo and Seoul benchmarks rose more than 5% in early trading.

Oil prices fell sharply, dropping over $3 a barrel. U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the agreement and ordered an end to the naval blockade of Iranian ports.

The war had pushed oil prices higher, raising costs for petrol and many goods. Analysts say it may take months for oil prices to fully settle after the disruption.
