Access Holdings' Olanrewaju Bamisebi to Retire September 30, 2026

By —

Access Holdings Plc has announced that Olanrewaju Bamisebi will retire as Executive Director, Information Technology and Digitalisation, effective September 30, 2026. The retirement follows the expiration of his term contract.

The company notified the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the investing public through a regulatory filing. The notification makes the boardroom change public ahead of the effective date.

Why the retirement is happening

Access Holdings said Bamisebi's retirement aligns the composition of its executive leadership with the Central Bank of Nigeria's Corporate Governance Guidelines for Financial Holding Companies in Nigeria.

Under those guidelines, a financial holding company may have a maximum of two Executive Directors. They are the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer and one other Executive Director, who shall be the Chief Financial Officer, subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

That structure leaves no room for an additional executive director role outside those two positions. The retirement is therefore a governance step, not a sudden exit.

Board thanks Bamisebi

The Board of Directors of Access Holdings Plc expressed its "sincere appreciation" to Mr Bamisebi for his "dedicated service and valuable contributions to the digital transformation and growth of Access Group during his tenure."

The Board also wishes him "continued success in his future endeavours."

What it means for Access Holdings

The change takes effect on September 30, 2026. The company has already informed the market through its filing to the NGX.

For shareholders and customers, the key issue is compliance with the CBN's holding company rules. Access Holdings has opted to notify the market early and align its leadership structure with the regulator's framework.

There is no direct naira or consumer pricing impact from the announcement. It is a board and regulatory governance matter. Nigerian businesses watching financial sector compliance will note that holding companies are now being held to a tighter executive structure.
