MultiChoice cuts DStv and GOtv to four packages each, with prices from ₦4,000

By —

MultiChoice has reduced DStv and GOtv to four packages each, with monthly prices running from ₦4,000 to ₦44,500. The new subscription structure took effect on November 5, 2026, under CANAL+ ownership.

For Nigerian households, the test is whether the new line-up keeps favourite channels and sports coverage without adding to monthly bills.

DStv: Starter to Premium

DStv now has Starter, Select, Sports and Premium. Starter costs ₦6,000 monthly and gives access to selected Premier League and UEFA Champions League matches through SuperSport KICKOFF. It also carries Africa Magic+, Telemundo, Cartoon Network, ZWorld and M-Net Legends.

Select costs ₦11,000 monthly and adds CNN, Star Life, ROK, M-Net Movies+ and more children's programming. Sports costs ₦21,000 monthly and offers comprehensive Premier League and UEFA Champions League coverage, plus WWE and UFC. Premium at ₦44,500 monthly remains DStv's most expensive option and combines sports with international movies and entertainment. Formula 1, MotoGP, international tennis and major golf tournaments are on Premium.

GOtv replaces old packages

GOtv replaces Smallie, Jinja, Jolli, Max, Supa and Supa+ with four options. GOtv Easy costs ₦4,000 monthly. GOtv Starter is ₦6,000, GOtv Select is ₦11,000 and GOtv Sports is ₦21,000. Easy is the cheapest subscription across both platforms. GOtv Sports targets viewers who want broader football and other sporting events.

MultiChoice also reorganised entertainment channels. Africa Magic+ is being introduced to consolidate programming and make Nigerian films and drama more accessible to lower-tier subscribers. New channel combinations mean customers should check where their preferred programmes now sit before renewing.

What subscribers should weigh

MultiChoice Nigeria CEO Kemi Omotosho said the changes were informed by customer feedback demanding better value, wider choices and more relevant entertainment. DStv Stream has an entry option listed at ₦6,000 monthly. Promotional decoder bundles are advertised at about ₦15,000, although actual costs may depend on the offer and equipment included.

Existing subscribers face a simple question: does the new package keep the channels they watch regularly? The revised structure draws a clearer line between general entertainment and premium sports. For households, the lowest entry point is now ₦4,000 on GOtv, while full sports and premium entertainment cost up to ₦44,500 on DStv. Earlier reports said MultiChoice would remove 16 television channels from its South African bouquets in 2026, affecting movie lovers, Bollywood fans, music enthusiasts and families. The operator has also scrapped Africa Magic Family after 12 years and introduced a new channel on DStv.
