Imported petrol costs ₦68.67 more per litre than Dangote refinery price, MEMAN data shows

By —

Imported petrol is still ₦68.67 per litre more expensive than petrol from Dangote Refinery, according to the latest figures from the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN). The data shows the import parity price for petrol stood at ₦1,253.80 per litre, while Dangote Refinery’s reported gantry price was ₦1,185.13 per litre as of October 30, 2026.

The gap puts locally refined petrol at a clear price advantage as Dangote Petroleum Refinery and major depot operators deepen competition in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market. The pressure is mounting on fuel importers, especially marketers that rely heavily on imported supplies.

Lagos depots cut prices

Depot operators reduced petrol and diesel prices across Lagos between Monday, October 26, and Friday, October 30, 2026. PetroleumPriceNG data showed Lagos recorded the biggest petrol reductions, with average prices falling by ₦81.67 per litre.

African Terminal and Ardova cut petrol prices from ₦1,340 to ₦1,260 per litre, an ₦80 reduction. Aiteo announced a steeper ₦85 cut, lowering its price from ₦1,340 to ₦1,255 per litre. The adjustments placed the average petrol price across the three Lagos depots at ₦1,258.33 per litre.

The Lagos reductions followed an earlier ₦55 price cut by marketers linked to Dangote Refinery. That cut brought their reported gantry price to ₦1,210 per litre on October 30.

Diesel, Warri prices fall

Diesel prices also declined, a move that could ease operating costs for businesses using generators, transport and industrial equipment. Rain Oil and Wosbab reduced diesel prices by ₦95 to ₦1,805 per litre. Integrated, African Terminal, Gulf Treasure and Duport lowered their prices by ₦90 to ₦1,810 per litre. The average diesel price in Lagos settled at ₦1,808.75 per litre.

In Warri, Delta State, Matrix reduced petrol price by ₦52 to ₦1,300 per litre. Parker followed with a ₦50 reduction, while Prudent cut its price by ₦55. Both operators ended at ₦1,300 per litre. The average reduction across the three depots stood at ₦52.33 per litre.

Port Harcourt and Calabar also recorded downward price adjustments, although specific reductions were unavailable.

What it means for marketers and motorists

MEMAN’s import parity price is a benchmark, not a confirmed transaction price for every importer. Actual costs may vary. Wholesale reductions may eventually reach filling stations, but pump prices will still depend on transport costs, distribution margins and individual marketers’ pricing decisions.

For consumers, the key question is whether the competition between Dangote Refinery and depot operators will deliver meaningful savings at the pump. For importers, the wider gap between imported and locally refined petrol could squeeze margins if domestic supplies remain cheaper.
