Beta Glass Q3 profit after tax rises 2.9% to ₦8.77 billion

By —

Beta Glass Plc posted a 2.9% year-on-year rise in profit after tax to ₦8.77 billion in Q3 2026, up from ₦8.52 billion in Q3 2025, despite earnings pressures. The glass container manufacturer, described as the leading player in West and Central Africa, also recorded an 11.7% increase in Q3 revenue, driven by double-digit volume growth.

Nine-month revenue rose 5% to ₦120.08 billion for the period ended 30 September 2026. Beta Glass said the performance came against a strong comparative base set by early-year customer stocking activity in 2025.

Margins improve in Q3

Gross profit increased 21.3% in Q3 2026, outpacing revenue growth. Gross margin improved to 37.6% from 34.6% in Q3 2025. EBITDA margin rose to 40.8% from 37.6% in the same period.

For the nine months to September 2026, EBITDA margin improved to 39.5% from 38.2% in 9M 2025. Gross margin was broadly stable at 36.2%, compared with 36.6% in 9M 2025, despite US/Iran war induced margin pressures. Profit before tax fell 6.6% in 9M 2026 versus 9M 2025. Beta Glass linked the decline to the strong comparative base set by early-year customer stocking activity in 2025.

CEO speaks on demand, costs

Chief Executive Officer Alex Gendis said: “Our 11.7% revenue growth in Q3 2026 reflects another quarter of strong commercial performance, backed by a double-digit increase in sales volume, driven by healthy demand from our key customers in the brewery, soft drinks, pharma, and cosmetics segments. A 21.3%increase in gross profit reflects the gains from our tight cost management and improved manufacturing efficiencies. These have resulted in an encouraging improvement in our gross margin from 34.6% to 37.6%. While Iran/US war induced factors continued to place pressure on our overall earnings, we recorded modest growth in PBT and PAT during Q3 2026. The 6.6% decline in PBT in 9M 2026 vs 9M 2025 is reflective of the strong comparative base set by early-year customer stocking activity in 2025. Our focus remains on managing all macro and operating pressures while sustaining the improvements recorded in our operating performance. As we approach the end of the year, we remain committed to operational excellence, disciplined cost management and delivering high-quality glass packaging solutions to our customers across local and export markets. These priorities will continue to guide our efforts to strengthen the business and create long-term value for our shareholders.”

What it means for Nigerian businesses

The numbers point to steady demand from brewers, soft drink makers, pharmaceutical firms and cosmetics companies, even as cost and macro pressures persist. Beta Glass said it remains focused on operational excellence, disciplined cost management and supplying high-quality glass packaging across local and export markets.

The unaudited interim financial statements for the nine months ended 30 September 2026 will be available on the company’s website at www.betaglass.com following their official release.
