By Aboki Forex —
DStv will introduce four new subscription packages in Nigeria from Thursday, November 5, 2026, with monthly prices from N6,000 to N44,500. The packages will offer between 98 and 162 channels, covering football, movies, children's programmes, documentaries and entertainment.
What each package offers
The top package costs N44,500 monthly and offers more than 162 channels. It includes major international football leagues, ATP tennis tours and all Grand Slam tournaments, Formula 1, PGA Golf, rugby and athletics. It also carries M-Net, M-Net Movies+ and Discovery Channel.
The N21,000 package offers more than 139 channels. It combines football from major international leagues with WWE and UFC, international movies and television series, local entertainment, and children's and educational channels.
The N11,000 package offers more than 131 channels. It includes selected Premier League and Champions League matches, lifestyle programmes, music, documentaries, movies, series, dramas and novellas. It also carries M-Net Movies+, Stars & Legends, Nickelodeon and a 24-hour WWE wrestling channel.
The lowest-priced option costs N6,000 monthly and offers more than 98 channels. Subscribers get movies, music and entertainment, local favourite channels, SuperSport Kickoff, M-Net Legends and National Geographic Wild.
Automatic migration for affected subscribers
DStv said the new packages will replace some existing options. The new line-up will become available in most African markets from November 5, 2026. Existing subscribers will not need to reconnect their decoders or take any action before the changes. Customers whose current subscriptions are affected will be automatically moved to the relevant new packages when the new line-up launches. Subscribers can upgrade or change their subscriptions from the launch date.
Digital switchover target
Separately, the federal government has announced December 2028 as the target date for completing Nigeria's full transition from analogue to digital television broadcasting. The announcement follows the launch of a new free-to-air platform called FreeTV. Charles Ebuebu, Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission, confirmed the timeline in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria. He said the shutdown would be rolled out in stages.
For pay-TV customers, the new DStv line-up sets a lower entry price of N6,000 and a top price of N44,500. Affected subscribers should check the new package that matches their old plan because the switch will happen automatically at launch.
