Ikeja Electric Apologises as Six Band A Feeders Record Zero Power for Two Days
By Aboki Forex —
Ikeja Electric has apologised to Band A customers after failing to deliver the promised 20 hours of daily electricity on October 25 and 26, 2026. Six feeders recorded zero hours of supply across the two days.
The DisCo disclosed this in a circular posted on its X account on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. It blamed the shortfall on panel-swapping work, grid instability, transformer limitations and network faults.
Five Shomolu feeders got no power at all
Five feeders in Shomolu recorded zero hours of electricity on both days. They are 11-Magodo INJ-T1-Emanuel Keshi, 11-Magodo INJ-T1-Shangisha, 11-Magodo INJ-T1-Owulade, 11-Magodo INJ-T2-Bashiru and 11-Magodo INJ-T2-CMD.
Ikeja Electric tied the complete outage on these feeders to panel-swapping work. A sixth feeder, 33-Orgba TCN-MTN in Ikeja, also recorded zero hours on both days, with the company listing a 33kV fault as the cause.
In the circular, the company said: "Dear Esteemed Customer, we apologize for falling short of the expected minimum service level of 20 hours on the Band A feeders below for October 25th and 26th, 2026."
Other feeders fell short but kept some supply
Several other Band A feeders across Ikeja, Shomolu, Oshodi and Akowonjo did not hit the 20-hour mark but avoided a total blackout.
The 11-PTC INJ-T2-Awuse feeder in Ikeja recorded 19.28 hours on October 25 and 18.72 hours on October 26. The 11-Oworo INJ-T3-Anthony feeder in Shomolu received 6.38 hours on October 25 before supply improved to 19.32 hours the following day.
In Akowonjo, the 11-Alimosho INJ-T8-Okunola feeder recorded 16.55 hours on October 25 and 18.95 hours on October 26. The 11-PTC INJ-T2-Medical feeder in Ikeja got 15.82 hours on the first day and 18.72 hours on the second day.
Ikeja Electric said some disruptions were linked to faults on the 11-kilovolt (kV) and 33kV networks, as well as instability on the national grid.
What it means for Band A customers
Band A customers pay a premium tariff in exchange for at least 20 hours of daily supply, so any shortfall carries a cost for homes and small businesses running on hired generators.
The DisCo said it regretted the inconvenience caused by the interruptions. The notice follows earlier complaints by the company about insufficient electricity allocated to its network from the national grid.
Ikeja Electric has a compensation portal that allows eligible Band A customers to claim free electricity units after supply shortfalls. The portal follows a NERC directive issued after customers failed to get the service levels promised under the premium tariff.
