DStv Adds SportyTV and Novelas+ as Canal+ Reshapes MultiChoice Line-up

By —

DStv Nigeria has added SportyTV and Novelas+ to its channel line-up, the clearest sign yet of how the pay-TV platform is being reshaped since Canal+ took effective control of MultiChoice.

SportyTV went live in June 2026 and sits on channel 236. Novelas+ followed on July 1, 2026, on channel 133. Both are listed on DStv Nigeria's official channel directory and across several of its packages.

SportyTV lands on the Access package

SportyTV, now listed as Sporty TV Nigeria, carries live sporting events, highlights, news and analysis. DStv said the channel's coverage includes the Premier League, NBA and LaLiga, plus exclusive club television content.

The key detail for subscribers is where it sits. SportyTV is available on the Access package, which means lower-tier subscribers get more sports without moving up to DStv's higher-priced bouquets. The channel is included in several of the platform's packages.

Novelas+ targets telenovela viewers

Novelas+ joined the platform on July 1, 2026, on channel 133, with Access subscribers among those able to watch it. The channel focuses on Spanish-language and international telenovelas, built around romance, drama and family-focused stories.

Like SportyTV, it currently appears on DStv Nigeria's channel directory and in several packages, widening the platform's entertainment offering for viewers who follow international serials.

What it means for subscribers

The two additions show DStv's line-up is still moving after Canal+ took effective control. For Nigerian subscribers, the changes push more sports programming down to the cheaper Access package and add a dedicated telenovela channel at a time when streaming platforms are fighting for the same eyeballs.

Canal+ has also cut decoder prices for new DStv and GOtv subscribers by up to 40%, a move aimed at reviving Africa's biggest pay-TV operator and pulling in more customers. That came as MultiChoice returns to profitability following years of subscriber losses, weak consumer spending and rising competition from global streaming platforms.

DStv currently lists SportyTV on channel 236 and Novelas+ on channel 133 among its active Nigerian offerings.
