FG's C.L.I.C.K.D. portal: how Nigerians can apply for up to N1m credit for laptops and phones
By Aboki Forex —
The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation, CREDICORP, has opened its C.L.I.C.K.D. portal for Nigerians who want to buy laptops, smartphones, tablets and other digital devices on credit and repay over an agreed period.
Reports indicate applicants may access financing of up to N1 million, subject to eligibility and the conditions set by participating lenders. CREDICORP's official programme page does not currently state a universal N1 million limit, an interest rate or a repayment period, so applicants should confirm the final terms with their chosen financial institution.
What the programme offers
The Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Devices programme is CREDICORP's flagship digital-device financing initiative. It helps working Nigerians acquire smartphones, laptops, tablets, connectivity equipment and digital-learning tools through structured repayment plans.
Unlike a cash loan that a beneficiary can spend freely, the scheme delivers devices meant for education, employment, entrepreneurship and participation in Nigeria's digital economy. A laptop can help a student finish online courses. A smartphone can let a small-business owner receive payments, promote products and reach customers. Freelancers and remote workers can use the same devices to chase jobs and income online.
The programme is not a grant, a free-device giveaway or an N1 million cash payment. Beneficiaries receive approved devices on credit and must repay under the lender's terms.
Pilot, targets and eligibility
The first national pilot is being run with the Federal Government's 3 Million Technical Talent, 3MTT, programme under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy. Under that pilot, eligible 3MTT fellows can obtain laptops and other work-ready devices on credit.
The initial phase involves 1,000 locally assembled laptops. The programme is expected to expand to more Nigerians as additional lenders, manufacturers and technology vendors join.
It targets economically active Nigerians who need digital tools for work, learning or business. Submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee approval. Every application is assessed against the lending institution's credit requirements.
How to apply
Interested applicants can follow these steps:
1. Visit the official CREDICORP C.L.I.C.K.D. portal.
2. Click the "I'm Interested" button.
3. Complete the expression-of-interest form with accurate personal and employment information.
4. Explore the available credit options and choose a participating financial institution.
5. Submit the required documents for assessment.
6. If approved, select an eligible device and review the repayment terms before accepting the offer.
CREDICORP says its broader credit process requires applicants to pick a participating lender, submit an application and receive approval before accessing credit.
Check the numbers before you sign
Before accepting an offer, applicants should check the interest rate, monthly instalment, total repayment amount, applicable fees and the consequences of late payment. Successful repayment may strengthen a beneficiary's credit history. Missed payments could damage it.
For Nigerian businesses and consumers, the scheme lowers the upfront cost of the tools needed to earn online, but it is still debt. Borrow only what you can comfortably repay.
Separately, the Nigerian Communications Commission and the Federal Ministry of Education are developing a plan to give eligible public school and tertiary students 100MB of free data daily from October 1, 2026.
