PHED Cuts Prepaid Meter Prices as Mojec Offers Single-Phase Meter Below N100,000
By Aboki Forex —
Prepaid meter prices in Rivers State have dropped sharply, with Mojec Asset Management Co. Ltd. now selling a single-phase meter for N98,900. That is the first time in recent memory a vendor on the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) list has gone below the N100,000 mark.
PHED released the updated price list effective September 9, 2026, and it will stay in force until December 2, 2026. All listed prices include VAT and cover meters supplied through PHED's approved Meter Asset Provider scheme. Five vendors are on the list.
Mojec Leads the Pack
Mojec's Din-Rail single-phase meter carries the N98,900 price tag, the only option currently below N100,000. Its standard single-phase meter now costs N106,425, down from N117,175 on the previous list.
KIGG Meters & Systems Ltd. cut its single-phase meter from N116,276.67 to N100,347.61. That is a reduction of N15,929.06, or about 13.7%. Wellsun Intelligent Technology Ltd. brought its price down from N116,399.94 to N100,800.42, saving customers N15,599.52, roughly 13.4%.

Three-Phase Meters Also Cheaper
The reductions were not limited to single-phase meters. Three-phase prepaid meter prices fell across all vendors on the PHED list.

Why It Matters
The upfront cost of a meter is often the biggest hurdle for households moving from estimated billing to prepaid. A lower entry price cuts that barrier for Rivers State customers, even as electricity tariffs and the naira's value against the dollar continue to shape what consumers pay for power.
Earlier, Ikeja Electric introduced a buy-now-pay-later electricity scheme that allows eligible customers to receive up to N20,000 worth of units on credit before settling the cost later. The company announced the offering, called Energy Advance, in an official notice, describing it as a way to prevent unexpected power interruptions when units run out. Ikeja Electric said the service is not open to all customers and is limited to those who meet specific eligibility conditions.
