DStv Compact subscribers get every Premier League and Champions League match from September 17

MultiChoice will move existing DStv Compact subscribers automatically to a new Sports package during September, giving them access to every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match from September 17. The company says there will be no price increase when the new packages launch, and subscribers will not need to change their subscriptions to access the new offering.
The restructuring is described as MultiChoice's biggest overhaul of DStv packages in 15 years, aimed at giving subscribers more tailored choices based on what they watch.
What the new Sports package carries
The new Sports package will feature 17 sports channels. Beyond every Premier League and Champions League match, it will carry all PSL matches, cricket that was previously restricted to Premium subscribers, local rugby and other action sports.
Compact customers will also gain entertainment channels available on DStv Select, including Mzansi Magic.
MultiChoice CEO Willington Ngwepe said the packages had been redesigned to reflect changing viewing habits. "Our focus is on giving subscribers better value and access to the entertainment and sport they love," Ngwepe said.
Starter, Select and the Movies & Series option
Other packages are affected. Access subscribers will automatically move to Starter, while Family customers move to Select. Starter will gain 10 channels, including Wethu+, SuperSport KICKOFF and kykNET & Kie. SuperSport KICKOFF will show selected PSL and Premier League matches, plus full La Liga coverage.
Family subscribers moving to Select will get Mzansi Magic, every PSL match and all DStv kids' channels. EasyView, Compact Plus and Premium customers will stay on their existing packages, with the option of switching to one of the new offerings.
For viewers who prefer movies and series to sport, DStv is introducing a Movies & Series package. It will include M-Net, kykNET, premium movie channels, Discovery Channel and BBC Earth, along with 10 sports channels and full PSL coverage.
Premium remains the top-tier package, with added coverage of international rugby including the Springboks, Formula 1, MotoGP, tennis and major golf tournaments.
New channels and a new contract price
Two new channels join the DStv lineup on September 17: international news channel France 24 and faith-based Church TV. Movie channels are being reorganised under three new brands, M-Net Movies+, M-Net Stars and M-Net Legends.
Premium subscribers will also have a new 24-month contract option priced at R799 per month, including the Access Fee. The new packages will be available on both DStv satellite services and DStv Stream from September 17.
The changes, scheduled to take effect on September 17, 2026, could reignite debate among Nigerian subscribers over pricing and value, given that Compact customers in Nigeria have long pushed for more sport at the same cost.
