FG begins VSTP payment verification, gives beneficiaries one week to update bank details
By Aboki Forex —
The National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) has started a payment reconciliation exercise for Vocational and Skills Training Programme (VSTP) beneficiaries with invalid bank accounts. The exercise began on August 19, 2026, and affected participants have one week to update and validate their account information or risk missing out on payments.
Beneficiaries who have already validated their details or received their transportation allowance do not need to take any action. The Federal Government is also advancing its iDICE initiative, which targets 30,000 job training opportunities for Nigerian youths.
What affected VSTP beneficiaries should do
NSIPA said the payment reconciliation and account validation exercise is designed to resolve account-related problems that have prevented some participants from receiving payments. According to the agency, beneficiaries whose bank account details were found to be invalid are being contacted and allowed to update and validate their information.
The agency said many affected participants have already completed the validation process, while others are yet to provide or correct their details. Beneficiaries who have not completed the process have been given one week from August 19 to validate their account information.
NSIPA urged affected participants to use the window to ensure their bank details are accurate and valid, stressing that proper account information is necessary for payment processing. However, beneficiaries who have already completed the validation process or received their transportation allowance have been advised to disregard the notice.
Programmes behind the exercise
The Renewed Hope Vocational and Skills Training Programme is one of the Federal Government's initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda. The programme is designed to provide Nigerians with practical vocational and technical skills that can improve their chances of securing jobs, starting businesses and earning sustainable incomes.
The latest reconciliation exercise is expected to clear outstanding account issues and make it easier for eligible participants to receive payments due to them. For beneficiaries who have been waiting for payments because of account discrepancies, the validation process could provide an important opportunity to correct their information and avoid further delays.
Alongside the VSTP payment verification exercise, the Federal Government is also advancing its iDICE programme, with 30,000 job training opportunities targeted at Nigerian youths. The initiative is focused on expanding access to skills and employment opportunities, particularly as young Nigerians continue to seek pathways into the digital economy and other emerging sectors.
Other government skills programmes
The 30,000 training opportunities add to the government's broader efforts to equip young people with practical skills that can improve employability and support entrepreneurship. Together, the VSTP payment reconciliation and iDICE training programme highlight the Federal Government's focus on combining financial support with skills development.
The Federal Government-backed 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme has also opened applications for its Talent Registry, giving thousands of Nigerians a fresh opportunity to secure well-paying technology jobs with monthly salaries starting from ₦150,000. That initiative, launched in partnership with Skill Ladders and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), is expected to provide access to more than 3,000 tech job opportunities across different digital skill areas.
For VSTP beneficiaries, the immediate priority remains completing account validation within the stipulated period. For youths seeking new skills, the iDICE training programme presents another potential pathway into the changing world of work.
