FG opens applications for NiYA × Cascador Founders Programme, offers up to N5m funding for young entrepreneurs

By

The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has opened applications for the NiYA × Cascador Founders Programme. It is a four-week initiative for young Nigerian founders aged 18 to 35, with up to N5 million each in non-dilutive funding for eight top performers.

Only 20 founders will be selected for the pilot cohort. Applications close on August 26, 2026. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one course on the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA) platform.

Programme details

The programme is implemented in partnership with Cascador and Sapphital. It focuses on business development, investment readiness, pitch preparation and mentorship. Eight of the top-performing participants will be eligible for up to N5 million each in non-dilutive funding from Cascador, alongside an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution to support business management and growth.

The total funding available is N40 million. The programme aims to strengthen the pathway for young entrepreneurs from business development to investment readiness and access to capital.

Participants will receive training and mentorship to improve business fundamentals, prepare stronger pitches and develop strategies for sustainable growth.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must meet several conditions. Their business must be at least 51% owned by founder(s) aged between 18 and 35. At least one founder in that age range must work full-time in the business and hold a leadership position.

The business must be registered and operating in Nigeria. It must have launched a product or service with evidence of customer adoption. The business must have operated for at least six months and operate in a sector that creates positive economic or social value.

Applicants must present a clear plan for using the funding to accelerate growth. They must also be available to participate fully in the four-week programme and final Pitch Day. Businesses in harmful or restricted sectors, including tobacco and gambling, are not eligible.

How to apply

Applicants need five documents before starting their application: Business Registration Certificate (CAC), a clear passport photograph with a white background, National Identification Number (NIN) slip, pitch deck, and Certificate of Completion for a NiYA Academy course.

The application process has three steps. First, create a profile on the programme platform. Second, upload the required documents through the Documents section. Third, complete and submit the application before the August 26, 2026 deadline.

Selection into the 20-person pilot cohort does not guarantee funding. Only the eight top-performing founders will receive up to N5 million each, subject to the programme's assessment and funding terms. False or misleading information may result in disqualification.

Related credit initiative

Earlier, the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) introduced YouthCred, a loan initiative that gives Nigerian youths access to credit of up to N5 million. Youth Development Minister Ayodele Olawande said the initiative is open to all Nigerian youths, stressing that participation is not limited to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.

For young Nigerian business owners, the NiYA × Cascador programme offers a rare chance to access grant funding and mentorship without giving up equity. It is a practical step toward closing the capital gap for early-stage businesses.
