Background
The initiative is part of the Federal Government's push to promote technical and vocational education as a pathway to employment and self-employment.
Legit.ng earlier reported that the Federal Government has also launched the online registration portal for Phase III of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI). That programme plans to train 26,961 unemployed Nigerians in 70 high-demand skills across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. It is expected to commence in August 2026 after registration is completed.
For Nigerian businesses and young job seekers, these schemes signal a steady increase in government-backed skills training. More people with marketable skills could ease the pressure on formal employment and support the growth of micro-enterprises in the creative and digital sectors.
