MTN Lagos Y'ello Street Experience: How to Relive 25 Years of Connectivity in Ikoyi

By

The Y'ello Street Experience is now open at MTN Plaza, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, running daily until August 17, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event marks MTN's 25 years of connectivity and takes visitors through the evolution of mobile communication in Nigeria.

From the first call and first SMS to smartphones and mobile data, the experience invites Nigerians to relive personal milestones tied to mobile technology. It also shows younger visitors what staying connected looked like before the always-online world.

What to Expect at the Experience

MTN says the Y'ello Street Experience is not just a celebration of its own 25-year journey but a reflection of millions of Nigerian stories shaped by connectivity. Visitors can trace the shift from basic calls and SMS to mobile data and digital services.

Parents can bring their children to see what mobile life was like before smartphones. Friends can reconnect with memories from the early years of mobile communication. For younger Nigerians, the experience offers a glimpse into a time when staying connected was very different.

The event is open daily until August 17, 2026, at MTN Plaza, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos. Visitors are invited to step into the past, relive memorable moments and rediscover their first MTN memories.

MTN's Free TikTok Offer Excludes Nigerians

In a separate development, MTN has introduced a weekly reward giving eligible customers one hour of free TikTok access every Sunday. The offer, called TikTok Open Time, is the first service under MTN's new Open Time rewards platform.

However, the promotion currently applies only to customers in South Africa. MTN subscribers in Nigeria are not included. Eligible South African customers can access the free TikTok connectivity through the MTN App, under the MyGifts section.

For Nigerian subscribers, the Y'ello Street Experience remains the main way to engage with MTN's legacy. The event's focus on the evolution of communication is a reminder of how far Nigeria has come in mobile connectivity, even as some new perks, like the TikTok reward, remain limited to other markets for now.
