MultiChoice unveils four new SuperSport channels on DStv, keeps prices unchanged in 2026

MultiChoice will roll out four new SuperSport channels on DStv starting August 19, 2026. The new channels are SuperSport Football Plus, SuperSport Africa, SuperSport KickOff and SuperSport Extra 2.
What the new channels offer
SuperSport Football Plus will carry premium football content, including selected UEFA Champions League fixtures. SuperSport Africa will focus on South African and other continental sporting events, giving subscribers broader access to competitions across Africa.
The other two channels are aimed at solving a common problem for sports broadcasters: multiple matches kicking off at the same time. SuperSport KickOff will handle overflow football fixtures when several games start simultaneously. SuperSport Extra 2 will provide extra capacity for major events that clash on the same date.
Together, the four channels form part of a wider reorganisation of MultiChoice's sports offering on DStv.
Extra channels for DStv Access subscribers
Separately, DStv Access subscribers have already seen their package expand this year. WWE was added on channel 128, Trace Gospel on channel 322, and Trace Ngoma on channel 326, giving lower-tier subscribers more variety.
MultiChoice also made all 51 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup available live to DStv Access and higher-tier subscribers. The tournament ended on July 19, 2026, with Spain lifting the title.
DStv prices stay flat
MultiChoice has also confirmed that DStv subscription prices will remain unchanged in 2026, a break from its usual annual price adjustments. The decision is part of efforts to win back subscribers lost to streaming services.
Willington Ngwepe, MultiChoice CEO South Africa, said: “We will not be having an inflation adjustment to pricing. So we’ll keep the prices flat again in appreciation of the circumstances that we are in.”
In a related development, DStv customers across Africa will continue watching 12 popular channels following a new distribution deal between Canal+ and Warner Bros. Discovery. The agreement prevented channels including CNN International and Cartoon Network from being removed from DStv on January 1, 2026. Canal+ announced the multi-year deal on Tuesday, December 30.
What this means for Nigerian subscribers
For Nigerian DStv customers, the August rollout means more sports viewing options during busy competition periods. The price freeze also offers some relief at a time when household budgets remain under pressure.
