Dangote Refinery launches free petrol delivery in six states, offers 10-day credit for bulk buyers

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has started delivering petrol to fuel marketers in six Nigerian states at no delivery cost under the first phase of a new programme. Marketers who purchase a minimum of 250,000 litres per order qualify for free delivery and a 10-day credit facility.
The refinery said the rollout is part of its Vision 2030 strategy to strengthen fuel distribution and improve energy access across Nigeria.
States covered and pricing
The first phase covers Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna, Delta, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. More states will be added in later phases, according to the refinery. Petrol under the initiative is sold at the existing gantry price of N1,215 per litre.
Qualifying marketers also receive access to a 10-day credit facility, allowing them to take delivery before full payment is due. The refinery said the combination of direct delivery and deferred payment is designed to ease logistics burdens on marketers, cut down on transportation costs, and improve the flow of petroleum products across the covered states.
Vision 2030 and distributor requirements
Dangote Refinery linked the initiative to its Vision 2030: Accelerating Africa's Industrialisation agenda. The long-term plan aims to improve Nigeria's downstream petroleum sector and contribute to broader industrial development goals across Africa through better energy supply and distribution.
The launch follows a period of increased activity at the refinery, which had earlier resumed petrol sales priced in naira and ramped up supplies to the local market. The refinery said the free delivery scheme builds on those steps by directly addressing the movement and availability of fuel within Nigeria.
Recently, the Dangote Group announced four steps to become a petrol distributor. Step 1: Customer sends an email to [email protected]. Step 2: Customer receives registration guidelines, a link, and due diligence forms. Step 3: Successful customers receive a Dangote Refinery registration PIN and a notification for a notarised NDA form. Step 4: Customer receives a distributorship appointment letter confirming registration.
What this means for the naira and consumers
The free delivery programme is likely to increase competition in the downstream sector. Earlier, prices of diesel and petrol dropped at private depots across the country as operators adjusted to Dangote’s growing market influence. Diesel from private depots like MAO, MENJ, TMDK, and DUPORT is now selling at N958 per litre, a 3% reduction from N985 last week and slightly lower than Dangote’s ex-depot price of N960 per litre. For consumers, lower distribution costs could eventually feed into more stable pump prices, especially in the covered states, as marketers save on logistics and pass on some of the savings.
