Canal+ to launch Novelas+ drama channel on DStv from July 2026

By

Canal+ will launch a new drama channel called Novelas+ on DStv starting 1 July 2026. The channel will be available on multiple DStv packages including Access, Family, Compact, Compact Plus, and Premium.

Novelas+ will focus on serialized drama. It will feature telenovelas and international series from Latin America, the United States, Portugal, and Turkey. A Portuguese-language version is also planned for viewers in Angola and Mozambique.

The channel is part of Canal+ and MultiChoice’s effort to expand content offerings and increase value for subscribers, especially those on lower-tier packages. MultiChoice said Novelas+ has already built strong viewership in French-speaking African markets where it ranks as one of Canal+’s most-watched channels.

Programming will follow a weekday-heavy schedule. Four different shows will air each day with new episodes from Monday to Friday. The lineup will include romance, family drama, and suspense genres.

The launch follows other recent additions to DStv such as music and culture channel Base Pulse and sports-focused SportyTV. MultiChoice executive Willington Ngwepe said the new channel continues the platform’s strategy of expanding diverse content for different audience segments while keeping entertainment value competitive across subscription tiers.
