Dangote Refinery slashes jet fuel price by N100 per litre

By

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has cut the gantry price of aviation fuel to N1,450 per litre. This is a N100 reduction from the previous price of N1,550 per litre.

A source familiar with the development confirmed on Friday that the new price took effect on Tuesday. The reduction is expected to bring major relief to airline operators in Nigeria.

Aviation fuel is one of the biggest costs for airlines. Lower fuel prices can help improve profit margins and reduce financial pressure on carriers.

This price cut comes less than two weeks after the refinery reduced its petrol ex-depot price by N75 per litre. The company linked that adjustment to changes in the global energy market.

Industry observers say fluctuations in global crude oil prices often affect the pricing of refined products like petrol and jet fuel.

The Dangote Refinery began supplying refined products to the Nigerian market in 2024. It has since become a major player in domestic fuel pricing and supply.

A sustained decline in aviation fuel prices could create room for more competitive ticket pricing. But airfares are also influenced by exchange rates, airport charges and aircraft maintenance costs.

Industry stakeholders are watching closely for further price movements.
