Elon Musk has extended his lead as the world's richest person. His net worth now stands at $1.11 trillion. That puts him $794 billion ahead of Larry Page, the second richest man globally.

Musk's fortune is more than three times larger than Page's $306 billion. The gap between Musk and other billionaires has never been this wide. His net worth has increased by $139 billion recently. Overall, his wealth has gained about $490 billion, according to Bloomberg's billionaire ranking.

Musk's money comes mostly from his stakes in Tesla, SpaceX, and his other tech ventures. Larry Page, Google's co-founder, sits at number two with $306 billion. Sergey Brin, also a Google co-founder, is third with $285 billion. Amazon's Jeff Bezos ranks fourth at $260 billion. Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison is fifth with $238 billion. Michael Dell of Dell Technologies is sixth.

On the African rich list, Aliko Dangote leads with $36.5 billion. That places him 62nd in the global billionaires ranking.
